Mission Statement

The Jamaica Plain Artists Association (JPAA) is made up of visual artists in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, who make and promote art in the community. Membership includes artists at various stages of development, including painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors, potters, and more.

Activities include four membership meetings per year, which can include guest presenters such as art educators, directors of art programs and galleries, experts in photography, art techniques, art theory, and the business of art. Once a year we aim to have a group critique conducted by art educator from an area art school.

Every member is invited to participate in JPAA Member Art Shows, with the number of pieces varying depending on size of venue. In the past, exhibits have been presented at JP Licks and the Footlight Club.

Through the membership meetings, potluck gatherings, and exhibits, JPAA members are encouraged to network with one another to form committees or subgroups.

The JPAA works to involve the community in making art accessible. JPAA artists are active in the First Thursdays event and the annual Jamaica Plain Open Studios weekend in September.

The Jamaica Plain Artists Association is most grateful for the support we receive from the Jamaica Plain community and from these organizations in particular:
